Without Benefit of Sight

What makes you real, in a world of unreality, is the eye of your heart, the heart of your eye. What you see, how you see, cannot be taught but you can certainly be guided. The openness is everything. If someone shows you something new, be grateful. When people question your assumptions, be respectful enough to listen and reflect. As Richard Rolle so wonderfully puts it, “Give up your mad pride and proud madness.” Ask for the grace to admit your mistakes and try not to make them again!

When I was young, I longed for safety. When I was older, I just wanted to be right. Now that I am wiser, I’ll settle for nothing less than truth. How do you know what’s true? Is it beautiful and kind? Does it elevate and unite? Is it life promoting and liberating? Does it make you free?

The eye of the heart knows truth, feels love and beauty, understands compassion and revels in delight, even without benefit of sight.
