This Gift of Love

If you gave up your infinite perfection just for me, so you could better understand and appreciate my humanness, how could I not accept the generosity of this gift?

Not even a fair exchange, would I do the same for you? Would I come down from my perfect pinnacle and give up everything, begin from the absolute beginning and, ever so humbly, assume a helpless, vulnerable form, subject to every creaturely devastation, willingly, gracefully? A lowly birth, by sanitary standards, shunned by most people, warmly received by animals, pure and innocent, eagerly awaited, blessing to the world, eternally beloved. If you don’t believe the narrative as true, you must admit the story is utterly compelling.

Because I love you, I will look beyond the inauspicious squalor, scrape the dung off my feet and kneel to receive the glory of your Perfection.
