In the Name of Progress

Technical progress aims to make life easier.
Spiritual progress seems to make things more difficult.
Technical progress points us toward perfection.
Spiritual progress is not interested in assessment.
The goal of life is progress and evolution, and here
there is overlap between the two, but people are not
machines and cannot be calibrated. Machines have
no soul, perfect or not, and I would never give up my
soul for greater intelligence. I would never choose
perfection over compassion, or humility, or simple
human kindness.
