Swan-ing Again!

Buzz&Bella at Carding Mill Pond, 11/16/2020 author photo (of course).

I’m going to say it’s Bella&Buzz, but I’m not 100% convinced it’s not Lucy&Ricky. I returned to Carding Mill Pond, where I was re-united with Bella&Buzz early March, saw them both together, Bella went off to nest and only Buzz came for a bit, and then on the *other* side of the pond, a young couple was making a nest, and if I hadn’t seen Buzz on the right, and the new couple (Lucy&Ricky) on the left, I wouldn’t have believed there were 4 swans at that pond, and thought it a Superman/Clark Kent thing going on, messing with my mind. Lucy&Ricky’s nest was ransacked by resident Heron (woman who lives on pond told me), and Bella&Buzz went missing. Anyway, when last I visited Carding Mill, over the Summer, there were no swans. On a whim, I went this morning, and it was so beautiful, and I missed them so much, and they seemed happy to see me (Lucy, being younger than Bella, has a browner bill. Bella’s is as Orange as Buzz’s, which led to my confusion about who might be whom). So I will commence visitation (it’s very hard to get back in there, there’s a marsh to ford, you need a big stick which I didn’t have today). I’m very excited to have swan friends to visit, and am willing and wishing all predators away. I’ll let you know how that goes….
