Peace Replenishes

I wanted to make of my heart, a holy place. A sanctuary. Sacred. Solitudinous. Peaceful and beautifious, to make up for the mayhem of my childhood.

At first I thought to live there, reclusively, like a fairy tale castle, safe and secluded, but I grew lonely, longing for connection.

As I grew older, a little wiser and a lot more confident, I understood that I could bring the castle with me ~ the peace of my heart, a talisman, protecting me from evil.

As I grew wiser still, I learned that I could share it. Give pieces of peace away, and never feel diminished. Peace replenishes, like a great ocean fills a tiny tea cup, as you hold it out, trusting.

Quite literally, my cup runneth over. The more I give, the more comes back to me. The less I need, the more I appreciate what I’ve been given. Surely sharing is the perfect response, gratitude the perfect heartspace, blessing the perfect antidote to greed and anger. Surely goodness and mercy flow, when we step out of our own way.
