Make a promise to your heart

Deep in the heart of darkness, there’s a place the light can’t
get to. Lost in unspeakable sadness, all you can see is sorrow.

Your heart is a chalice. Pain carves and hollows, so the heart
can hold more joy. Burns on the way down. Makes your eyes
water. Never mind. Wipe your eyes and go on seeing.

Make a promise to your heart that you’ll never give up on beauty.
Each day, find something beautiful ~ a feather, a leaf, a spider‘s
spinning, and marvel at the wonder.

Light is persuasive. Slowly inching its way in, one morning you’ll
open the shutters of your heart and be met with a light so utterly
brilliant, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

I don’t know how or when, I only know it’s true and that I welcomed it.
A bird song at dawn, a trickling stream, a rabbit’s whiskers, pulled me
back into the light, protected me.

Drink deeply from the joy in the chalice of your heart. It’s hard won
and you deserve it. Share it with others. Each day, find something beautiful.
