Love is not just Poetry
Nov 8, 2022
A master can love a slave
and not remove her shackles.
An owner can love a dog and
chain it tightly to the fence.
A parent can love a child and
keep it locked up in the closet.
Love without effort is like a lazy
golfer who never leaves his cart.
“I love this game!” he crows, yet
won’t bend down to retrieve his ball.
Spare me your poetics.
Love has no need of wordy explanations.
When Love walks in and shakes your hand
you trust her with your life, though she
never spoke a word . . .
