Love Heals

Real faith is not sentimental, and Love which is true is without conditions. When we are asked to give, and then give more, if we draw from a bottomless well we will never hit bedrock.

My parents had empty wells and couldn’t seem to fill them. Little wonder they could not give to me. Raised in the church, they married and rebelled against their knowing. They sent their buckets down and came up empty.

I’m not a church goer and have not chosen a religion. I’ve made a quilt and patched together what speaks to me most clearly, and wear it every day, like a coat of many colors. I grew up in a family with lots of judge-ments (after my mother died). “Those people will never be in Heaven. *We* have the truth.” I’m guessing Heaven will be full of marvelous surprises.

The world is weary. We’re all in need of healing and we know, even the babies know, that whatever the question, Love is the answer. The clever mind will keep you occupied with theories and semantics while the heart, smiling sweetly in its serenity, reminds us how to love.
