Love Answers

I called and no one answered.

I was lost and no one noticed.

I was invisible. Unlovable. Unwanted.

I went missing, and no one cared to

look for me. Gave up too soon, or

never bothered.

Love has a duty to respond. Protect.

One way or the other, Love answers.

Freezing last pm, protecting precious Peony buds with the train from my wedding dress. How sweet is that?)

I don’t usually talk about my “process” but this morning I read a poem by Amber Flora Thomas and the line “Love means you answer” hit me like a brick in my sternum and I knew I had to speak to it. The people who tell you to “get over it” are avoiding their own pain. It isn’t you. The people who say there’s no such thing as a “trigger” might well wonder how that little hammer to check your reflexes just makes your leg jerk without your brain having any say in it, without your mind deciding whether or not you want to respond. Just saying. And the people who say “Time heals all wounds”, well, perhaps. I still have scars from animal bites and my own cuttings.
