Let Peace Be Your Anchor

Lotus from the pond in the concrete parking lot of my doctor’s office. Best metaphor ever. Photo, of course, goes without saying but I’ll say it: mine. Lori Beth McCray

Overstretched, over-scheduled, overwhelmed, we have made a god of time , worship our idols and addictions at the altar of productivity. Indolence is laziness. The busier the better.

I am paid to do nothing, yet my work is still valuable, my time still meaningful (at least to me). I don’t care what time it is. I eat when I’m hungry I get up with the sun. I am fortunate and grateful (and sometimes guilty for not “contributing”). My peace is an anchor. Throw out your anchors, whatever they may be, wherever you might find them, in the deep still waters of your own sweet soul and settle, just for a moment, sinking, like the Lotus rising from the muck. Draw up the Light, its sustenance, its nourishment, and flourish.
