In Search of Something Beautiful

I have always believed in something. When I didn’t believe in God, I believed in Love. When I didn’t believe in Love, I believed in Beauty.
In the bleakness of my despair, Beauty pulled me from the wreckage and walked me into wonder. There is magic in this world because of Beauty. Light and purity and grace, and it is fresh and unpretentious.

I used to worry that I could end up like my parents. Slip into some deep, dark well and never surface. I don’t worry anymore. One bird is all I need to comfort me. One poem. One symphony. One miraculous sun, rising and setting, reminding me how lucky I am to be here.
