I saw a quote by Plato, regarding human behavior. He said there are three components: what you want (desire), what you feel, (emotion), and what you think (knowledge). Far be it from me to argue with a great philosopher but I would add belief, which is surely part of knowledge but colors one’s experience with a pivotal perspective. If I think you intend to hurt me, I’ll react defensively. If I believe you’ve come with a great gift, I’ll be delighted.

If you can’t say what you believe, or how you arrived there (why you think what you think), you’re just the tail propelling the squirrel. Examine everything, especially the entrenched, and see if it still makes sense. Toss out the container which no longer fits.
