I Killed My Trusty Camera

After more than 20 years of falling in the pond, camera waving over my head to keep it safe, even in Winter, through the ice, my water bottle leaked in my camera bag and when I pulled it out it was sopping wet and toast. Dry now, it is dead as a door knob. Am using the Nikon Cool Pix Scotty got me one year, not used (have felt badly about that) because it takes 4 AA batteries which is an enormous pain in the neck. But it’s lighter than the DSLR (and much slower. Always a trade off).

Anyway, I took an early morning outing to the restaurant pond, after not finding any swans at Bella&Buzz’s new home, Carding Mill (and not taking any photographs, and a storm was coming in, would have been stellar). The camera acted up as soon as I turned it on. Wouldn’t shoot, said “Remove lens cap and turn on again” but I lost the cap ages ago so a moot instruction. Not in the mood for any of it, I just kept turning it on and off until it let me take a stinkin picture. What I’d forgotten about non-DSLR cameras is the lag time between pics. Bully gave me two fabulous wing displays and the camera wasn’t quick enough. It may well work for Peonies though, they wait patiently while you futz about, lol. Maybe I’ll just take up stamp collecting. In any event, it was chilly but beautiful. The good news is, Bully and I still have a bond. He came cruising in at my call, but Ivy hung way back with the cygnets, which is prudent. Isn’t Bully (aptly named) gorgeous? Thanks for listening. Have a stellar day. Praying for a peaceful planet. May not live to see it but still hoping.
