Haiku #687

We have made feelings

An idol we’ve learned to praise

But they confuse us

(I should say a word about 687. I had a dream about a little wooden boat, which two men took off in, leaving me stranded. In telling the story to Doug, I acted as if I had been angry but in the dream, though worried and not pleased, I accepted that the situation was as it was and my feelings about it really didn’t change anything, either way, so the next step was to figure out what to do now that my boat was gone. It made me think how much we heap in the “feeling” boat and does it really help move us forward? And it starts early and we don’t teach children how to think in school, nor do we help them learn to manage their emotions, and the bullying and peer pressure and cliques and cattiness chip away at . . . .

I think we should be aware of our feelings, respect them, but not pay homage to them (or make someone else do so). Like a barometer ~ useful information but only part of the entire gestalt. Will continue to think on this).
