Doing Puzzles

The self, existing somewhere between here and there
and nowhere, how do you make an inhabitable life?
The scattered pieces of an overturned puzzle, sometimes
suddenly, sometimes slowly, pieces gone missing,
important ones when you most need them. Sometimes you
need help. Objective help. Sometimes you're overwhelmed
and just give up on it. Some puzzles are too crazy
complicated.

No energy equals no effort equals despair or guilt or shame
or sometimes anger. If you've tried so hard and gotten no
where, the frustration is a torment. A continuous reminder
of your ineptness. Your failure to create a life of meaning
and see? We're right back where we began.

Your life makes sense to you (and only you) as you choose
what makes it meaningful (which only you can do). Even
if someone knows us well, they can't tell us what to do. At
best they can merely suggest.

The puzzle becomes more do-able as you become more
confident in your decisions. No one's puzzle will look like
yours. No one can tell you how to work it. Eventually, if
you're persistent, you'll feel it's worth the effort and enjoy
the unfolding process. And if you're really lucky, you'll
look back and see how even the challenging pieces some
how seem to fit.

My cousin Elaine sent me a beautiful wooden swan puzzles. This was my favorite piece of a too difficult challenge but a very thoughtful gift and sweet gesture
