Come Out Singing

I have carried a collective hunger. Grief and loss and yearning, mine and not mine. Eons of shame and a burdening sadness. I’ve carted dead dreams through the desert, the weight of hopelessness heavy on my back. Though my eyes burned with the sting of hot sand, I have discovered my oasis and come out singing.

Not a sentimental song, not a frivolous ditty. I have come out singing of life after death. Hope after hopelessness. Of pride after shame. This song is a soul song, a soul who knows only Love.

Abuse and neglect have made this song more beautiful, as the wound becomes the healing.

Each melodious verse is a testament to transcendence. A hymn of survival. A miracle of grace.
