And just like that, it’s frozen

It’s really pretty but I didn’t expect it to be frozen already
It took me a very long time to find them. The ice is thin so they had to push through it with their chest to get to me. Buzz comes first. William never came first, made each of his 4 partners do the work, lol.
Buzz has come through the ice, Bella behind his right wing and now they can walk to where I am standing in the cat tails, though one step closer plunged my right leg suddenly under water and into the stinky smelly muck, cold cold water on a cold day. Never ready. Still, all worth it.
The mud is like quicksand, if you waste time wondering how to respond you’ll go home with no boots. Ask me how I know this (it’s a long cold walk to the car in socks when you can’t pull your boots free…)
Buzz, reflecting
Bella looking at me, this is how I left them. I stayed, after taking off my boot and finding my extra sock, until they had finished eating.
